More postage, PLEASE!

All area artists are invited to participate in this first annual fundraising event for WSU's Shift Space Gallery.

Submissions are due on Mon. October 15th, 2007, and can be mailed or brought to:

WSU/School of Art and Design Office
1845 Fairmount St., Box 67
Wichita, Kansas 67260.

All works must be on 4x6" postcard quality paper and signed only on the back.  Artists are encouraged to include additional contact information on the back of their submission for collectors interests.  Works do not need to be flat, but do need to be self supporting and able to be pinned to the wall.

Works will be exhibited for Final Friday, October 26th, 2007 in a grid fashion without revealing the individual artists until Nov. 9th, 2007 at RUNaWAY, our galla fundraising event at the new Shift Space at 803 E. 3rd Street.



Deadline for RUNaWAY Show: Oct. 1st!

The entry deadline for the RUNaWAY show that will be this Novemeber is October 1st, 2007.  This is a wearable art/fashion show, a creative synthesis of fashion, sculpture, media and performance.

And the categories are:

Good Eats - anything food related

Most Posh-humously - think frilly fluffy death

Arte Povera - the art movement, look it up, Italian for poor art, think cheap

Futurama - the big bad future, think out of this galaxy, far out

Splendid Appendage - could be scary...perfect

Upcoming events!

First up, Shift Space XVI: The Participants currated by Annie Strader.  An exhibition featuring the work of many of the students and alumni who participated in the move from the old space on Commerce Street to the new space at 803 E. 3rd by the Warren Old Town.  A reception will be held on Final Friday, September 28th, from 7-10PM.  Show runs through October 19th.


And secondly, we have Shift Space XVII: Runaway.  A fundraising extraboganza of fashion, sculpture, media and performance; not to be missed.  Occuring one night only, November 9th from 5-10PM at the new Shift Space on 3rd Street.  However, before we get carried away, we need your help to pull it off.  Ask a professor for details!


New Photo Album

I just posted the photo album from John Hammer's show so take a look.  Thanks to everyone who made it out to the show Friday.  We had a pretty good turnout and the new space looks great.  If you didn't happen to make it while S is for Space was playing, here's a video I shot:
