NATIONAL JURIED GRADUATE CERAMICS EXHIBITION
DEADLINE FOR ENTRY DECEMBER 15

MFA THESIS OPENING SATURDAY DECEMBER 13 AT 7 PM

AStene_thesisposter
Graduate student,
Amber Vanhatala Stene of Wichita State University’s Fine Arts Graduate program
will show her thesis exhibition at the Shift Space Gallery on Dec. 13.  The show, titled The Process of Elimination, features large-scale drawings on
paper.

            Stene’s
work examines the process of fitting into society.
She uses drawing to symbolize the transient
nature of relationships. Her detailed figurative subjects combine unusual elements, mixing scale and
rendering modes to
provoke an examination of the
difficulties of finding ones place in society.

The opening for Stene’s MFA Thesis is 7–10 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13. The
show will be up Dec. 6–19 by appointment. Shift Space Gallery, founded and supported by the WSU School of
Art & Design,
is located at 803 E. Third St. in Old Town.

A man returns to his home town after being away and discovers a severed human ear in a field. Not satisfied with the police's pace, he and the police detective's daughter carry out their own investigation. The object of his investigation turns out to be a beautiful and mysterious woman involved with a violent and perversely evil man. Written by Mark Logan {marklo@west.sun.com}
